Organic Spiced Hazelnut Tart 16cm

A beautiful spiced tart, made with toasted ground hazels, cinnamon and nutmeg. The 16cm size serves 4 (in our house anyway!). It is freshly made and can be frozen. I wrote my Masters Dissertation on UK nut growing - hazels and walnuts are the two main crops in the UK, but although they grow very well in our climate, they are still not widely grown due to competition from abroad, and the prevelance of squirrels! From a nutritional perspective, nuts are powerhouses of goodness, containing protein, carbs, fats, fibre, vitamins and polyphenols. They are also fabulous from an environmental perspective (particularly when grown organically), being one of the few perennial crops with a high protein content.
